Classroom Decor

I am changing grades this year and I am so excited.  Last year I was teaching 1st grade and had fun.  BUT, my real passions are with the bigger guys.  I just love the personalities of 9-12 year olds.  I know, some think I am crazy.  But others totally get what I am saying.

I found out the day after school let out that I am moving to fourth!  I was doing a happy dance the whole time I moved my things into my new room.  That was until I looked at my room.  OH-MY-Gracious!!!! This room was a computer lab and suddenly became a storing/staging room for the surrounding classes.  This is what I walked into...

I think the worst part was finding out none of the furniture was staying.  EEK!  So I decided to leave it for a couple weeks and let it get cleared out.

I went on my stay-cation here on island (see my Summer in Okinawa post) and came back 3 weeks later.  Nope, nothing changed.  Grrr! So I decided it was time to take action.  I slowly began moving the furniture to the assigned rooms and asked the custodian super nicely to locate some tables and a teachers desk.  By the end of the week, I had 5 tables and a teachers desk.  Nice!

This past week I have been hitting up the 100 Yen stores (our version of a dollar tree) and the Daiso stores (a store like Big Lots).  There is so many cool things here.  The Japanese are HUGE on storage so its easy to find just the right containers.  I am really going to link up on an organization linky party as soon as I figure out how to do that sort of thing.

So now I am prepared.  My room is a blank slate and my car is piled high with coordinating containers, decorations and paint.  I have a to do list and a dear friend eager to help.  By Friday I should have a great room to show off.  Woohoo!

Now I need to remember to take pictures.

Ok, I am off to go order borders and material for seat sacks, and then read tech tips to start joining these linky parties.
